I am a DNP graduate of Robert Morris University, May 2012. I entered RMU as a CNS and highly recommend RMU for the experienced advanced practice nurse. It is a program that challenges the learner, yet one in which you can succeed. The program is organized. The faculty are excellent. The cohort model is an ideal way in which the student can learn, grow and achieve. Investigate RMU's DNP.

Robert Morris University in PA: http://rmu.edu/Graduate/DoctoralPrograms/NursingPracticeDNP -- this is a master to DNP for clinical masters. You attend courses one week in Pittsburgh area per semester (you can fly in and survive without a car. School puts you up in a hotel and provides meals and transportation and activities.) You are part of a cohort and its very do-able long distance and is made for people who work full time as most assignments are online/email though out the semester.
CHatham.edu --http://www.chatham.edu/ccps/dnp/ --- totally online completion degree. Also very doable to working professional.
I graduated from one of these and I am teaching in one starting this fall :-) would recommend both highly.
Comment by Dr. Cole Edmonson, DNP on November 25, 2011 at 10:08am Texas Christian University in Ft. Worth Texas can provide exactly what you are looking for in the DNP degree without the NP prereq. You could contact Dr. Kathy Baker at the School, she leads the program. Best wishes.
Comment by Gwen George on November 11, 2011 at 9:06am Loyola University New Orleans has a Post-MSN DNP for executive leaders which might be of interest to you. I am the coordinator of this program. You can learn more about it at www.loyno.edu/dnp or email me at gsgeorge@loyno.edu
Comment by Cecile Cherry on October 26, 2011 at 9:45am Have you checked out the program offered by the University of Alabama at Birmingham? They have a CNS track. The program is primarily online, students must attend one of the on-campus intensives while in the program.

Comment by NYC_DNP on October 16, 2011 at 4:18pm Wendy,
If you haven't yet decided on a DNP program, call Dr. Marietta Stanton at The University of Alabama (main campus) in Tuscaloosa [(205) 348-1020]. I completed their program and they have enrolled all APNs, including CNSs, as well as good cohorts of nursing educators, nurse case managers, nursing executives, nursing leaders and administrators, and nursing legislative policy wonks. I found it to be an exceptionally well-developed and comprehensive program, and the diversity of global nursing expertise brought into the program by colleagues from every domain of nursing practice greatly enriched every class experience. Call me if you want to speak more about it.
All the best in your search,
Bill

Comment by Terry Malloy on September 5, 2011 at 3:06pm Oakland University in Michigan accepts MSN without an NP requirement. I think, the MSN has to be in education or administration. At least this was the case when I went there. Let me know what you find out.
