I have not any real issues with billing Medicare. I use Office Ally to submit all my billing. The CMS-1500 is easy to fill out as well. Need to make sure that your electronic claims process is the 5010 version as well. I hope this helps.

Becky,

I am an ANP/GNP currently in practice with the U of Washington seeing homebound elders. I am considering branching out on my own as NPs in WA are completely autonomous. I would love to know what your experience billing Medicare as an independent practitioner has been.

Hello Colleagues,

In your professional opinion what would you say are the top 4 or 5 health concerns/issues of women 65 and older? Thank you.

That sounds like a really great job. I am a DNP student at the University of Iowa. I have been a staff nurse and work in acute care for more than 20 years. I will graduate in May 2013. I am not quite sure what I want to do after I graduate. My comfort zone is acute care, and at the University of Iowa Hospital where I currently work, I believe that DNPs could much improve the quality care that we provide. My concern is that most ARNPs currently are not employed by the nursing dept, but by physicians. Living in Iowa, there is much to do in primary care with the elderly population, I just have a lot to learn about it! I have not decided on my project yet; I am really interested in researching the effect of the lack of communication between acute care and primary care after patients are hospitalized and the role DNPs can have, either in the hospital setting or in primary care...or both! Your project sounds very interesting, good luck for GNP exam!

Anne, I am an nurse practitioner (FNP) in Ohio providing care to the homebound elderly in a house calls program in Cincinnati with another nurse practitioner. I am a new owner of a similar business within the rural counties of southwest Ohio. I will be taking the GNP exam via ANCC in April. I am in my first year DNP program in Ohio. My project is "In homebound elderly CHF patients how does implementation of a CHF self-management program by nurse practitioner providers compare to CHF ususal care NP provider visits affect hospital admissions over 6 months."

Would love to know a little about you!
